April 16, 2018, Kuching, Sarawak. LONGi (Kuching) SDN BHD, a wholly-owned subsidiary of LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd., celebrated the official launch of its fully vertical integrated monocrystalline wafer, cell and module facilities in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak, and Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Deputy Chief Minister and other esteemed guests graced the ceremony.

Mr. Zhong Baoshen, Chairman of LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd., thanked the government of Sarawak, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Ministry of Industrial & Entrepreneur Development (MIED) of Sarawak and partners for their support. “LONGi started overseas capacity deployment in 2015, and with the strong support from the government of Sarawak, LONGi Kuching became the first of LONGi’s overseas production base.”

Since its establishment in January 2016, LONGi Kuching has continuously expanded production, bought 3 factories and built 2 new ones. The warehouse area is now almost the size of Kuching International Airport terminal building.

With the vertical integration, LONGi Kuching can ensure quality control across the solar value chain - from silicon ingot, crystal pulling, slicing, cell production and module manufacturing. This control and expertise from ingot to modules ensured the facilities delivered high-quality, high performance monocrystalline products to customers worldwide.

The Chief Minister of Sarawak expressed appreciation for LONGi’s contribution to the local economy. LONGi is one of the largest enterprises in the Sama Jaya Free Industrial Zone, creating more than 2,000 jobs for Malaysians and the company’s commitment to the environment had empowered the green economy of Sarawak.

The Deputy Chief Minister added that LONGi has shown itself as an exemplary foreign enterprise that conscientiously integrated with the local culture in Sarawak and contributed to its economic development. More than 99% of LONGi Kuching’s employees are local Malaysians, which is a tremendous contribution to employment in Sarawak. As a pioneer in the photovoltaic industry, LONGi is committed to providing reliable, cost effective and high efficiency monocrystalline products. With its vertically integrated facilities, LONGi’s solar products will be shipped from Kuching to the world.

Presently, LONGi Kuching’s products shipped to the United States, Europe and Canada. The rapid business growth had increased the daily operations of Kuching Port and the demand for local freight forwarding services. LONGi Kuching’s integrated value chain will substantially save costs in logistics, packaging and the production process, as well as freight to the United States and Europe.

At the ceremony, LONGi Kuching further announced that it would sponsor 38 photovoltaic panels to the remote area of Miri, Sarawak, sending love, hope and green energy to the impoverished area.
