LONGi Solar Technology Co., Ltd. has been awarded the EUPD Research Top Innovation Award 2025 (TIA) in the category “Modules” for its high-efficiency Hybrid Passivated Back Contact (HPBC) 2.0 technology. The respective certificate was presented during KEY Energy, the Energy Transition Exhibition in Rimini, Italy. The recognition underlines LONGi's commitment to the advancement of solar technology, in particular back contact technology, and its continuous dedication to innovation and excellence in the renewable energy sector. In 2023, LONGi emphasized that back contact cells would be the focus of its technology development due to their superior conversion efficiency and future viability. Currently, two of LONGi's module types are equipped with HPBC 2.0: the Hi-MO 9, which is suitable for utility-scale projects, and the Hi-MO X10, which addresses the different needs of the residential and C&I markets. LONGi is the first company to win the Top Innovation Award for Europe in the "Modules" category since the award's inception in 2024.

EUPD Top Innovation Award granted by an independent panel of installers and industry experts

The EUPD Top Innovation Award recognizes outstanding products in the renewable energy industry. The EUPD Group, with its long-standing relationship with installers across Europe and globally, has formed the EUPD Sustainable Installer Committee, which serves as the jury for the Top Innovation Award. The jury highlights the products' innovation and impact in the renewable energy sector. LONGi has won the award in several countries, including Italy, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Poland, the UK and others.

LONGi launched the second generation of HPBC back contact technology in 2024, achieving a 1% increase in absolute efficiency compared to the first generation. The new back contact technology HPBC 2.0 is currently used in LONGi's Hi-MO 9 for utility-scale projects and Hi-MO X10, a module series targeting the distributed generation market, which was launched in Europe in December 2024.

LONGi's HPBC 2.0 technology was selected on the basis of six factors

  • Technology Advancement – The degree of technical enhancement compared to existing solutions.
  • Environmental Impact – Contribution to sustainability, efficiency improvements, and carbon footprint reduction.
  • Innovation Uniqueness – How distinct the innovation is compared to industry standards.
  • Market Disruption – The technology’s ability to reshape or redefine market trends.
  • Performance Metrics – Verified efficiency gains, durability, and real-world application advantages.
  • End-User Benefits – How the innovation enhances value for customers, installers, and energy users.
