10 March 2021, LONGi Solar, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-efficiency mono-crystalline solar cells and modules, is the market leader in India based on module shipments in 2020, as per a newly published report by JMK Research.
In 2019, LONGi Solar started to set up its footprint as a module supplier in India. In a short span of less than two years, it has emerged as one of the leading module suppliers in the country, supplying to over 15% of India’s annual solar power market now.
The Xi'an, China-based vertically integrated solar player supplied over 1,500 MW (DC) of modules in 2020 to India. In addition to its number one position in utility projects, LONGi has also gained a good market share in the rooftop solar market.
According to JMK Research’s Annual India Solar Report Card 2020, LONGi emerged as India’s leading supplier of solar modules in 2020, contributing 15.6% share of total shipments. Total module shipments in India in 2020 was around 9478 MW. LONGi was the largest supplier followed by Jinko and Adani with 12.7% and 10.2% market share, respectively.

2020 was the first year where shipments of high efficiency mono crystalline PERC modules in India overtook that of multi crystalline modules. Key factors contributing to this significant market shift from multi to mono are the narrowing price differences between the two, higher efficiency of mono modules and the complete shift to mono production by leading Chinese suppliers.
